This is one of the paintings I made for my solo exhibition, Mamihlapinatapai, on Valentine Willie, Kuala Lumpur. “Mamihlapinatapai” is a word in the Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego (South America) which originally means “a look shared by two people, each wishing that the other would initiate something that they both desire but which neither wants to initiate”.
I went to these places first time in my life, just for this solo exhibition. Museum Biologi ITB is a very very small museum inside the Department of Biology at Institut Teknologi Bandung. You may see it as a class room filled with dead animals and skeletons.
